New Charity Shop in Kelso

We were thrilled to announce the opening of our new, larger charity shop at 27 The Square, Kelso at the end of last year.

               

This exciting new venture, made possible through the dedication of our staff and volunteers, offers a fresh and welcoming shopping experience. Packed with fantastic finds, it features a dedicated children’s section, small furniture items, and a pet section stocked with treats and supplies to delight your furry friends, all while supporting the charity’s vital rescue and rehoming efforts.

When finding your pre-loved bargains, you can also make an even bigger impact on our work. In all three of our charity shops, donors now have the option to sign up for Retail Gift Aid, allowing us to claim an extra 25% from HMRC on the value of donated items sold—at no cost to you. This simple step helps us provide even more care and support for animals in need. Just ask our wonderful team and volunteers in-store for a form to register.

Fundraising, Thank You

A massive thank you to the wonderful team at Pets at Home Galashiels for their hard work during the Santa Paws appeal. We’re delighted to share that their efforts throughout December raised an incredible £3,987.39 to support Borders Pet Rescue. A special thanks to Mark (Store Manager) and the team for their dedication and support!

Animal Updates

The animals we care for are at the heart of everything we do and we know how much people love to hear updates about the progress they make during their time with us, and beyond. So, we decided it would be remiss of us to send a Borders Pet Rescue newsletter that didn’t include a few animal updates.

We’re so proud of Zen, a springer spaniel who joined us as a lively 9-month-old last year. With your support, Zen has become a fully licensed Digital Evidence Detection dog with Police Scotland. One of only four in Scotland, he helps uncover hidden digital devices vital to investigations. His work is ensuring justice, and we couldn’t be prouder.

 

 

 

 

 

When Banksy arrived as a stray in April 2024, he was fearful and wary, fiercely guarding himself and his meals. Slowly, with the team’s gentle patience, he discovered kindness, full food bowls, and endless love. After 8 months of care and trust-building, on 10th January, Banksy found his perfect family and left as a cherished companion.

 

 

 

 

 

Rudi’s story reminds us of the true Christmas spirit. Found with a broken leg, his future was uncertain, but your generosity raised over £8,000—double our target—to help him heal. While recovering, his foster family fell in love and decided to adopt him. Thanks to your kindness, Rudi now has a loving forever home—a true Christmas miracle.

 

 

 

 

 

When Toots fell ill with cat flu at the end of last year, she needed urgent vet care to recover. Thanks to your generous donations, which raised an incredible £1,157, and her whisker-strong determination, this brave little fighter made a full recovery. Now living her dream in a loving forever home, Toots enjoys life as the queen of her castle.
